We are accepting donations for the Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale which will be held on Saturday, July 9th. Please - - NO encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines or Readers Digest Condensed Books. VHS tapes, CDs and DVDs are welcome along with all of your gently used books. Thanks!!

Wednesday @ 10:00 a.m., Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers come with their Moms for stories and developmentally appropriate activities. They ALWAYS have fun!
Saturday @ 12:30 p.m. a few aspiring Writers will gather to share their current work and give each other a boost and encouragement. New people are welcome to come and check out our Writers' Group!
Saturday @ 7:00 p.m. a FREE movie will be shown for teens and 'tweens. Call the Library to find out the title. Doors open at 6:45. Refreshments are served. Our Books-to-Movies series is made possible in part by a grant from the Wyoming Foundation.

Chocolate! Did You Say "Chocolate"?
I did, I did! I did say chocolate!
We are offline this week updating our check in and check out procedures. Please be patient, bear with us, and treat yourself to a chocolate while you wait. 'Offline' does NOT equal 'no service'! We are here and the library is open regular hours; we are able to check out items to you that are on our shelves. Computers are also up and running so do drop in.
Looks like it's going to be a good week to curl up with a good book and a cup of hot cider!

YOU'RE RIGHT!!!! All three were featured attractions at Arcade Free Library last week!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was the first movie in our 'Third Saturday' Books-to-Movies series. Free to teens and tweens, the movie night includes a discussion centered around the integrity of the interpretation of the book by the film makers. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Wyoming Foundation.
Beach umbrellas were a favorite decoration for cupcakes at the fourth and final Summer Reading event for our K - 3 readers.
Our 4 - 6 readers were charged with becoming Alligator Architects at their final Summer Reading session. They decorated and created Old Swampy from Hello, Cupcake (Tack and Richardson). Then they ate him!!!

Flying Fish Hit Arcade Free Library!!!
Koi windsocks were the order of the day @ Arcade's Summer Reading Program.
K-3 readers created theirs with envelope bodies, colored marker faces and scales, and paper streamer tails!
4 - 6 readers re-cycled 2-litre pop bottles to create their versions of these traditional Japanese flying fish...
Come on in and see what next week holds in store!

Friends' Book Sale and Week ONE of Summer Reading Program Great Successes!

Summer Reading is off to a great start! We enjoyed stories, games, crafts and our very own bottle band this week. If you would like to join the fun, come along! Children going into grades K - 3 meet with Miss Sue @ 1:00 P.M. every Tuesday. Youngsters going into grades 4 - 6 meet with Miss Dona @ 1:00 P.M. every Thursday.

Our next sale will be the second weekend in February (Winterfest). We begin collecting book donations in January.

Summer Reading Starts Today!!!
Youngsters who will enter grades K-3 this fall are welcome to come to the library today at 1:00 P.M. for an exciting kick-off to our Summer Reading Program.
Don't be shy! Just come on down and join with other children as we listen to a story, learn a song and create a water creature!
Moms, Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas and other Caregivers are invited to find a cool and comfy place to read, write, compute, or just chat quietly with one another while you wait.

Whether 'tis nobler for the child’s mind to suffer
and slide as though going backward,
Or to take books against a sea of troubles,
And by reading end the slide? To read: to dream;
They are the same. Then let us read!
The adventures and the thousand nature books,
The mysteries just waiting to be read;
'Tis a journey devoutly to be wish'd.
To read: perchance to dream: ay, there's the hope;
For in that reading what dreams may come…
